Branding is the identity of your company and therfore it is super important. Many think that branding is a cute logo but it is way more than that.
Branding is the mood
The mood of the company, a brand describes the mood of the company without saying the mood of the company. Is the mood light and fun, deep snd philosophical, is it dramatic and a little sad?
When developing your brand you need to ask yourself what is the mood of my company… what do I want it to project to people, how will my brand affect others moods?
Branding is the aesthetic
The look and feel of your company is all wrapped up in your brand.
when building your brand you need to ask yourself how do you want to appear to your potential clients/customers/employees/investors…??? What do you want your business to look like?
This is mainly achieved through your company logo but you will also see websites, blogs, and brick &mortar shops showing the brand through colors and patterns… the aesthetic!
Branding is color
A brand has a color palette thet is unique to it, you will find though that you usually will get wrapped up in your brand so much that you begin buying everything in your brand colors because you are attracted to it!
It isn’t a bad thing, actually a good thing to get wrapped up in your brand… I mean thank about it when you walk in Walmart, how do you know who works at Walmart and who is shopping? By the Walmart brand, employees wear the Walmart brand which distinguishes them (sets them apart) from everyone else visiting Walmart!
Branding is your mission/Values
A brand should easily convey your mission and values to your visitors, clients, customers, investors…
Obviously you can have a long mission and values section of your website that explains everything in detail, but when someone sees your logo, your color palette, your tagine, your brand they should know the basis of your mission!
When building your brand take a good look at your logo, color palette, tag line, brand and ask yourself; does this convey my mission, my values?
Branding is the face of your company
Again, your logo and color palette will be at the forefront of everything, this is what people will begin to associate with as your brand.
When seeing your logo, color palette, patterns, tagine… without seeing anything else, people will know it is you because the brand has identified it as you! Think about McDonalds, everyone knows the red and golden yellow colors, and that golden arches logo is recognizable worldwide.
When building your brand make McDonald’s your ultimate goal, you want to be easily recognized!
Branding takes time
This is a process that isn’t something that just happens, I have worked on my brand for several years now, I am to the point where I LOVE my brand!!!
Don’t get discouraged when building your brand if you end up having to tweak, fix, change it several times, it’s okay.
Look at some major brands, their history many if not all have tweaked and changed their brand through the years.
What you don’t want to have happen is you re-branding your company so often that it is confusing. Adding small elements here and there to keep it exciting as long as it fits with the mood, the feel, and the look of the brand is perfectly fine and expected to happen. Completely changing your brands look, feel, and mood is something that should rarely happen.
