TRUTH… it is hard to come by

but it is time that someone starts speaking it.

I can hardly believe all the people from all kinds of backgrounds from being fully involved and highly respected member of the Medical Field to not having any knowledge of medicine and everyone in between. I know and realize everyone has an opinion and everyone is entitled to their opinion but when we continue to spread false information it can be detrimental to the health of the public.

I have said before and I will say again just in case this is the first article you have read from me. I am a certified Medical Coder, Auditor, and risk adjustment compliance specialist. I have a Masters degree in Public Health. I enjoy reading and studying medical topics and as a Public Health Professional this COVID virus pandemic has really sparked my interest and I have been and will continue to study this virus and everything that comes along with it.

I have said this before too, when looking at advice given by friends on social media don’t simply believe it because “everything posted on facebook is gospel!” because in reality everything posted on social media is not the truth. Please do you own research into articles, videos, advice that is posted on social media accounts. It is too easy to misquote articles that are shared, go read the article for yourself. Everyone has the right to their opinion and has the right to share their opinion but please do further research don’t take everything that is posted as gospel.

Here are some comments, some posts that I have encountered over the past couple of weeks and I want to show how so incredibly false each one is.

1. As long as my mouth is covered I am protecting you! I don’t have to cover my nose!

The problem with this statement is COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, what is the nose exactly? Think about that… you are exhaling and inhaling through your nose. This virus is not entirely spread through saliva and spit (this is what they claim when they say as long as their mouth is covered it is fine)

Let me share this with you. This virus is a respiratory virus that is spread through respiratory droplets. In order for a virus to survive though it must multiply/reproduce this happens mainly deep inside the nasal cavity in the nasal epithelium (tissue).

As infected individuals exhale through their nose viral particles will escape and enter the air hoping to land on an unsuspecting person or a surface where it can get picked up and transferred to another persons respiratory system.

Absolutely, the mouth also needs to be covered because the viral particles also leave the mouth in respiratory droplets…you know when you sneeze into your hands and your hands are wet? Those kind of respiratory droplets, the virus is small and inside of these respiratory droplets when the droplet evaporates or dries it leaves the viral particle behind(or stuck in a mask if you are wearing it properly)

2. Wearing masks are not healthy and can lower blood oxygen levels in healthy individuals!

Seriously, I had to really gather myself when I read this post from a medical professional, really… so if masks are so dangerous for healthy individuals why do dentists and dental hygienists wear them all day long, how can surgeons wear masks for hours while in surgery yet miraculously not have any issues with their blood oxygen levels???? Hmmmm this really made me scratch my head.

Now I understand you are a proof is in the pudding type of person just like me so I will link you to some very interesting articles published by the American Lung Association as well as doctors who are putting several layers of masks on and it never changes their blood oxygen level.

According to the American Lung Association there is no scientific or medical evidence that masks cause lower blood oxygen levels… not the masks that the general public wear anyway, the N95 masks if worn for extended periods of time by individuals who have pre-exisiting lung conditions can see elevated levels of CO2

Masks are made to breathe though, yes it may feel uncomfortable when you first begin to wear a mask, but honestly I am used to it and don’t really notice having a mask on anymore.

Go here to see a video of a doctor proving this is a lie

3. Wearing a mask will not protect you so why would I wear the mask, don’t wear a mask!

People are seriously telling other people to not wear a mask(shaking my head) What benefit is it to you personally to tell other people don’t wear that mask…Everyone has the right to wear a mask and to decide that wearing a mask is the best thing to do, you have the right to decide to not wear a mask(unless masks have been mandated) so what does that benefit you, to tell others to not wear a mask? It doesn’t… but what it could do is cause other people to not wear a mask and could potentially cause those individuals to contract this awful virus.

This virus is still so new but 7 months in we do have studies to prove that masking works to slow the spread. There was a study(referenced below if fyou want to check it out) about a man on an internataional flight there was a symptomatic person on a flight with 350 passengers, masks were used during this flight and when landing in Toronto the 25 passengers who were closest to this man were all tested for Coronavirus and monitored closely by public Health professionals for 14 days after flight arrival. None of the close seated passengers as well as none of the flight crew tested positive. This study is only one of many showing that masking works.

4. This virus is so small those homemade and regular surgical masks don’t do anything!

Actually they do… so the virus is small, and it is inside of liquid that when it hits the mask and evaporates the virus, yes some will get through while other viral particles get trapped inside the mask fibers (this is one of the main reasons you shouldn’t play with or touch your mask excessively through the day). It is important to note that the mask needs to be worn properly, fitted properly not loose fitting against the face above the nose and below the mouth, and the mask should be made out of tightly woven fabric, one way a scientist from the Today show said if you hold your mask up to the light and can see light through it, the mask is not adequate to protect, you can add a filter to help add protection.

There is a thing called viral load. This is the amount of viral particles that come in contact with a healthy individual, the higher the viral load that a person gets the sicker this person will be, masks lower the viral load someone could come in contact with.

There is a difference in respiratory droplets and aerosols that contain viral particles. Respiratory droplets that get trapped in cloth mask fibers before the respiratory droplets can evaporate turning into an aerosol which at this form can travel farther infecting more individuals, the mask slows and sometimes can stop this process therefore slowing the spread of this virus.

5. Masks are only for sick people, if you are healthy don’t wear a mask!!!

Okay, I completely understand where this statement is coming from… You know during flu season when you are going into a medical practice and you see a hand sanitizer holder with surgical type masks and a sign that says if you are exhibiting any of the following symptoms please wear a mask. Have you seen that?

Wearing a mask while sick is a way to keep germs from entering the public space and infecting the entire office. I can understand why someone would make this claim, however it is a dangerous claim to be making because if you have studied and researched this virus like I have you would know that the majority of infectious relations (the spread of the virus) happens before a person even knows they are infected themselves they are in what is called the pre-symptomatic stage of the infection.

During the pre-symptomatic phase is when the virus is in its highest numbers and is inside the nasal cavity, people walking around without a mask on because they are “healthy” are actually shedding(another word for spread) the virus infecting anyone and everyone they come in contact with. All because someone told them that masks are for the sick.

My opinion is that masks are actually for the healthy and the sick need to stay home isolated and quarantined from everyone and anyone including their own family.

In order for us to continue a somewhat normal life of going out to the grocery store, to work, to school, to the mall, to restaurants masks are for us to do that. Shutting the entire country down or even a state down is not the answer it is not healthy to do that but going out without a mask on is not healthy either.

So for those who say masks are for the sick, no the sick need to be quarantined and the healthy need to continue living on while protecting themselves and their family by wearing a facial covering and maintaining social distancing.

6. I have a pre-existing lung condition and I will not because I cannot wear a mask!

I do not disagree with you, if you have an obstructive lung disorder or even an anxiety you may not be able to safely wear a mask but they have come out with face shield and you should especially if you have a pre-exisiting lung condition, think about investing and wearing face shields when you cannot maintain social distancing. Due to your pre-existing lung condition you are at a greater risk of contracting the virus and suffering from serious negative effects.

7. Masks are uncomfortable and not attractive I wont wear a mask!

My first thought when I see this is this person is 100% selfish and self-centered. Wearing a face covering is not about you it is about others and there in lies the problem for the majority of people. We live in a Me Me Me society and who rarely if ever thinks of others before themselves. Wearing a mask protects other people from your respiratory droplets, from your germs that you may not even know that you have. Although there is some evidence today that masks do somewhat protect the wearer as well, but not as much as it protects others. Masks may be uncomfortable at first but think about the alternative of a ventilator how comfortable will that be?

8. Too much conflicting information, I would rather not wear a mask… I mean how serious is it when the CDC cant even make up their mind about guidance!

I agree totally with you when you say this, the problem is too many people are quick to share their information true or false and it can be very confusing. As far as the CDC goes COVID-19 is such a new virus we are still learning about the virus, how it is spread, how it effects different populations of people, how to slow the spread… we are still learning so yea when the CDC came out early on and said masks were useless and did nothing and now 7 months into this pandemic are coming back saying that masks are a good effective way at slowing the spread that is because we have learned more information, studied masks and the spreading of respiratory droplets, we have studied viral loads and pre-symptomatic people/ asymptomatic people. Yes even when you are not exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 you could be spreading it during the pre-symptomatic phase.

9. Viruses are all around us all the time and we need to build up an immunity to it, wearing a mask is hindering our immune system!

As I said earlier wearing a mask does not fully protect you from viral particles that are in the air but it will reduce the viral load that you are exposed to at one given time. You never want to overwhelm your immune system and body with exposure to a high viral load. The thing is we don’t know enough about this virus yet to say yea everyone should just go out and get this virus build up an immunity to it… There are some studies now that actually say that contracting the virus does not prevent subsequent infections so that myth about building up your immune system is not standing very tall now.

10. This is not actually a virus it is a made up thing to scare people and once the election is over we will discover that all of this was man-made.

This may be the most dangerous of all these myths… really man-made? Okay yes you can develop things in a lab and distribute them as a form of bioterrorism, this is not what COVID-19 is, COVID-19 is a mutation from the long existed coronavirus there are several versions of this and in order to survive and flourish for years and generations viruses have gotten very smart and very intuitive and are able to mutate to survive new environmental conditions. So you have different strains of the flu each year same concept, we develop vaccines and the flu says nope I am going to change a little so I can survive(it doesn’t really talk but that was fun to think it did for a minute). Same thing here so we have had coronavirus for years it is actually one of the culprits for the common cold. We have viruses all around us at all times this is a pandemic that should be taken seriously instead of making it political, it is not it is a public health crisis and if we don’t wake up and realize that it is real and it is dangerous we are all going to be in big trouble.

11. When you wear masks you are breathing in toxins! Breathing in CO2 is not healthy

No Carbon dioxide is what we exhale but wearing a mask is not increasing the CO2 levels in your body. When wearing a mask you are able to breathe in and breathe out, the carbon dioxide leaves just as the oxygen comes in.

12. Wearing masks cause nose bleeds

Ummmm really I am not thinking that is the truth either

13. Wearing masks cause heart palpitations

No way, not medically evident…now heart palpitations can be self induced anxiety could be the culprit when wearing a mask, and when a person places a mask on if they would begin to hyperventilate they could in fact have heart palpitations however it is not from the mask itself.

14. Wearing a mask causes cystic fibrosis

Are you serious right now???? Do you know what Cystic fibrosis is? Apparently not because Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder and has nothing to do with wearing a mask, I seriously cannot believe some lengths people are going to in order to not wear a mask personally or to get others to not wear a mask.

15. This Coronavirus is not as bad as the seasonal flu, people just need to calm down the media is making it bigger than it truly is, trying to scare us!

Okay, first of all people saying this I have to wonder if they have any knowledge of virology/ epidemiology/ infectious diseases…. hmmm I wonder if they have read peer-reviewed medical journals, I wonder if they truly know what they are talking about? I don’t know all I can say is I would hope that anyone that does have any knowledge of Medicine and infectious disease would not be spreading this false information. I have an entire blog post comparing the Novel Coronavirus and the seasonal flu and in reality they are nothing alike other than both being a respiratory virus that is about it.

I know that the news media can exaggerate things, but if we believe that the Coronavirus is not as bad as the seasonal flu it could be detrimental to public health. This is a true public health emergency, please do your own research from reputable medical resources.

This virus has nothing to do with the upcoming election, this virus is real, this virus needs to be taken seriously.

Just like the seasonal flu some cases are so mild the patients do not even receive medical treatment, other cases require visits to the doctor(typically this is a family or general internist) for some medical treatment, while unfortunately other cases require hospitalizations and some do in fact end up in the death of the patient. Coronavirus is showing to present similar with some cases being so mild the patient stays at home recovering at home, others require a trip to their doctors office while others require hospitalization and unfortunately some end up in the death of the patient.

It is important to know and understand that not everyone who contracts the Coronavirus will end up in the hospital not everyone will end up with life threatening side effects however this information does not allow us to believe the Coronavirus is no big deal and we should not be concerned.

Can you believe some of the things people are saying?

I get it… these people believe that what they are sharing is TRUTH and HELPFUL when in reality it is LIES and HARMFUL…

Everyone has the right to their opinion and has the right to share their opinion but telling people these myths are harmful, if the person sharing the opinion could put in their post that this is their opinion and why it is their opinion then let their friends and family decide if they agree or need to look elsewhere for advice.

Giving out these types of opinions are not the same as opinions on clothes/fashion/ food/restaurants/diets/ travel/ budgets/ investing/ life events…

Giving out opinions on pandemic topics could cause more harm than good and it needs to stop!

Understand, I am not a doctor(dont claim to be), but I am a Medical Professional and a researcher I study and read official medical articles not those published and put out there by non-reputable sources… I mean I am looking at Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, CDC, National Institutes of Health, public health websites, American Lung association and also peer reviewed journals from medical schools.

Go ahead and share your opinion just please when you do tell everyone it is your personal opinion and readers can agree or research on their own, it would also be helpful if you could put some reputable articles that back up your opinion as well (may be hard to find though if you are spreading false information.)

This post has taken me hours/ days/ weeks actually to put together, I have saved as a draft several times but the truth is this information needs to shared people need to know that there are dangerous rumors out there.

Left over enchiladas

I am not a big fan of left overs, years ago i wouldn’t touch left overs and now I terste them because I dont want to be wasteful

In order to make left overs more fun, I try to make a brand name dish, I redefine the leftovers

When you have tacos if you are like me, I could eat them left over for a week, crazy how much we have left over… but tacos are fun to eat left over(if I am being honest I would say tacos ate my favorite thing to eat left over)

Today I am going to share my recipe for enchiladas using our left over tacos

This is so yummy and definitely counts as comfort food for sure and you could fix this any season we are in, great now in the summer, would be just as good in the fall, winter, or spring!

Here is what you will need

  • Left over taco meat(1 tablespoon prepared per enchilada)
  • Left over refried beans(1 tablespoon prepared for each enchilada)
  • 1 cup white rice prepared (or 1 tablespoon of Mexican rice if you have it left over
  • Queso cheese(1 tablespoon for each enchilada)
  • Quesadilla or cheddar cheese
  • Enchilada sauce 4 tablespoons if you dont have this but have salsa use this
  • Small tortillas 2-3 per person
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Green onions
  • Cotija cheese
  • Crema

  • Warm up the meat, beans, rice and queso cheese
  • Spray a 8×8 9×13 pan(depending on how many you are making)
  • Smear a tablepoon of refried in the middle of you tortilla go to just about each end
  • Top with 1 tablespoon of taco meat
  • Top with 1 tablepsoon rice
  • Top with 1 tablespoon of queso
  • Roll the tortilla up kind of like a taquito lay seam side down in the pan
  • Repeat until you have all the enchilladas you wish to make
  • Pour 4 tablespoons of enchilada sauce down the middle of rolled enchiladas top with 1 cup of cheese
  • Bake in a 375⁰ degree preheated oven for 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and enchiladas are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly
  • Serve immediately by garnishing with cotija cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, crema, green onions…
  • Enjoy!!!

Why I think…Face coverings

are our saving hope.

There has been more controversy over a crazy piece of cloth covering ones face. I almost cannot fathom the amount of people who get so angry at people wearing masks calling us sheep, calling us weak, calling us scared, calling us fools.

I have a masters degree in Public Health and COVID-19 is a Public Health emergency, going back to my studies of viruses and other infectious diseasaes and the prevention of these diseases, I cannot help but to continue to be a fan of mask wearing.

For those who dont agree, who call me those names let me ask you a couple of questions

  • Why is it that you teach your children to cover their mouth when they cough?
  • Why do you try your best to turn away when you sneeeze?
  • Why is it that you stay away from sick individuals when you know they are sick?

I am going to answer those questions… you teach your children to cover their cough because down deep you know and realize that germs could be coming out of your mouth when you cough, the same when you sneeze and you turn away from others. You stay away from sick individuals because you dont want to get sick. Am I off track?

Face coverings do exactly what you hands do when you cover a cough, the mask keeps your respiratory droplets in your face, yes some still will escape but the majority stays inside your mask. By wearing a mask you keep your hands clean because you are not using your hands to cover your cough and sneezes.

I will say that when COVID-19 began hitting the United states it was not in my own state yet but I was frantically searching for face coverings, you once could find these in the first aid section but not now, sold out everywhere and they were so expensive online it wasn’t worth it to me at the time, I made my own face mask.

Why was it that I was a fan of face coverings even before the CDC came out and said face coverings aren’t necessary, not effective?

During my studies in grad school I studied viruses, their reproductive traits, transmission modes and rates, as well as preventive measures (called virology and epidemiology). I learned that viruses which are spread through the air such as influenza, covid-19, SARS, MERS, TB… are highly contagious and spread quickly, social distancing and facial coverings are effective at slowing the spread, these disease processes spread like wildfire and a mask/ social distancing can slow it to a fire pit size fire, wild fire or fire pit…. hmmm I think I will choose the fire pit size.

Does a face covering and or social distancing prevent COVID-19 spread. No it does not, but what it does do is slow the spread, giving medical researchers and scientists enough time to come up with a vaccine and or medical treatment.

Does wearing a face mask allow you to not practice social distancing, no social distancing is still very effective at slowing the spread however in order to social distance the way it needs to be done we would have to shut everything down as we have seen done in the past and that is not healthy or good either.

Does wearing a face mask replace the need for good hand hygeine? No, absolutely not… hand-washing is the number one preventive measure against viral infectious diseases. When we touch surfaces with the virus living(yes they live on surfaces) we can transport that virus from that surface to our hands and subsequently to our face(eyes, nose, mouth) and then we have the virus inside our body for it to flourish and reproduce and make us very sick.

A virus is very smart its only purpose in life is to survive and reproduce, it doesn’t mean to make us sick but if that is the way it can live and reproduce so be it.

We live in a world where everyone thinks that they can be doctors because of google we have a bunch of Dr. Googles walking around giving their opinions and it really confuses people… what do you believe what can you believe?

I say only take recommendations from reputable Medcial and science sources

I am fortunate to have medical background in my studies that I knew facial coverings and social distancing was much needed in the flattening of the curve of COVID. I remember waiting anxiously for our governor to shut things down, I remember thinking why are you not putting us at a stay at home order, we have to get the spread under control. He put us at a stay at home order and everyone went crazy… he can’t do that, our health is not his concern it is against my civil rights… What about the right to be healthy and the right to feel safe what about that right? Our Governor did a fantastic job of keeping us informed on COVID-19 in our state and how we needed to keep the numbers as low as we can by staying safe at home and social distancing.

We re-opened and everything was great until he made a mask mandate… oh my word you would think that he was taking peoples lives away…. I could not understand what the big deal was, wear a mask, slow the spread, lets get through this together, and get back to a normal whether that be a new normal or our old normal(although I would much rather have a new normal). Once again I am going to say that I am thankful for a Governor who leads his state in prayer, who is generally concerned about his state and its people, I personally think he has done a fantastic job, he is surrounded by Public Health professionals who are telling him what is happening and things we can do to change the outcome. I am thankful for Governor Jim Justice, WV State Governor!

COVID-19 resides inside the respiratory droplet which flies through the air, some evaporate allowing the virus to fall on a surface where it sits and waits for someone to pick it up and transfer it to their respiratory system.

Asymptomatic means not presenting with symptoms this happens with nearly every infectious disease, carrying the infection spreading the infection and feeling fine.

Pre-symptomatic means before symptoms. When individuals contract the virus(the virus is inside the human host) it takes a few days for symptoms to appear. Studies have been done to prove that the viral load(the amount of virus) that is spread is highest during the pre-symptomatic phase of the virus.

This means that the person that has COVID-19 is the most contagious before they begin showing any symptoms… another reason masks are a good reason.

Whether you agree with masking or not, please refrain from calling people that do wear masks cowards, fools, crazy, sheep…. let them wear their masks what is it hurting you that they wear a mask? What is it hurting them that they are wearing a mask?

The way I see it is it hurts no one that I decide to wear a mask, it doesn’t negatively affect anyone including myself that I wear a mask but on the contrary it could have a positive impact on others and myself for wearing it.

I choose to wear a mask, I don’t do it 100% for others, I don’t do it 100% for myself I do it for everyone including myself because yes there are studies, scientific studies about masks offering protection from COVID-19 for the wearer as well as the population who are in contact with the mask wearer.

I encourage you to go to the following links to read about masks, I also encourage you to be careful when doing research, be sure to read the entire article don’t just pick out a phrase that goes along with your anti-mask stance, and be careful on what resources you are using… anyone can write an article but are they a trustworthy source do they know anything about epidemiology and viruses?

We are still learning

This post is composed of facts from my own research, as well as my own personal opinion. This blog post is not to be considered official medical advice. The opinions presented here are of my own and should not be taken as official medical advice… Always seek medical attention and advice from your Medical doctor.

I have heard so many people upset saying that no one truly knows anything about this virus, and guidance is changing everyday sometimes multiple times in a day and who do you believe, what do you believe.

I am here to tell you we are all still learning about this disease COVID-19 which is also called the Novel Coronavirus(novel meaning new). This disease process has only been around since around December of 2019, starting to spread rapidly in the 1st quarter of 2020, it has not been around for years and years. Medical research scientists are working as hard as they can to know everything about this disease, we have to lean into what they are telling us, we have to be able to understand that we are still learning, so when guidance changes that is why, because we are continually learning new information about the disease process, how it is transmitted how it reproduces how it presents in people, how to slow the spread, how to treat the virus…

Lets go over some other viral infections so you too can understand the importance of medical research and science.

150-200nm in size- DNA virus

Varicella-zoster Virus . Chicken pox is a viral infection, some get it so bad while others get a very mild case and could in fact get it once again if there case is mild. What we know about chicken pox is it is a virus that infects mostly young children but can affect adolescents and adults but it is rare. Once the initial illness passes the fever is gone, the outbreak of painful rash passes, this virus continues to live inside the human body and lies dormant when you get older, maybe you get stressed as a big exam approaches or stressed from work and family obligations, or you get run down not getting enough sleep not eating a good healthy diet and the immune system is not working at its capacity. Anyway you wake up one day and begin seeing a painful rash running along a nerve… Oh your stress and or weakened immune system has awakened that virus that causes chicken pox except this time it presents itself as shingles. Chickenpox is highly contagious yet Shingles is not, but a person with shingles can indeed pass chickenpox to someone who has never had chickenpox(same virus remember) How do we know this information? We know this information because Chicken pox has been around for years and medical scientists and researchers have studied it for years. When chicken pox first came out they didn’t know that it lived dormant in human bodies and reemerged later in life, but years of research and studying this virus led to this discovery.

155-240 nm

Herpes Simplex Virus or simply Herpes. Is a virus that once infected with herpes, the virus stays in the human body forever and will rear its ugly head at the most opportune times like the night before your family photos, or a wedding or a major life event, stress causes the virus to awaken and cause a cold sore to appear around the persons mouth. How do we know this information and how did we come to find out the difference in a common cold sore and genital herpes, not the same? Research… years of studying viruses, years not days, weeks or months rather years of intensive research.

120 nm

HIV- Human immunodeficiency virus– a virus spread through body fluids also considered a sexually transmitted disease but can also be spread through contaminated blood(sharing needles, getting pricked accidently in a medical facility). Once infected with HIV virus the patient lives with this virus for their entire life, lives asymptomatically meaning they do not present with symptoms, and once symptoms of HIV show up and are present the disease is now referred to as AIDS, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

1.84X10 (-5) square nm

Ebstein-Barr Virus(EBV). This is a virus which causes mononucleosis and is spread through body fluids most commonly saliva and found to be more prevalent in children from sharing drinks, adolescents and teens from kissing that is where the term kissing disease came from. Once infected with the EBV it lives inside the human and lies dormant until a weakened immune system and stress allows it to re-emerge. People that have had EBV are not contagious for the entire lives only when the virus is emerged are they considered contagious. But this virus lives in our bodies forever, how do we know this? Medical Scientists and researchers have studied the virus for years.

52-55 nm

Human Papillomavirus (HPV). a virus that causes the common wart you know those pesky growths on the skin, yep and remember the tree man that had bark like growths on his body that was caused by HPV as well and did you know that once infected HPV it lives inside the human forever and can actually cause normal body cells to mutate and divide rapidly causing tumors to grow and cervical cancer in women to happen. So the common wart, tree like growths, cervical cancer all caused by this one virus, HPV… how did we come to know all of this? Research and years of studying the virus. HPV has been around for years but just recently it was discovered that it is a Sexually transmitted disease and a vaccine was produced to protect individuals from contracting HPV this reduces a woman’s chance of developing cervical cancer. All of these medical breakthroughs did not happen the day we discovered HPV, it has taken years to get to the point we are today with HPV.

125 nm

Novel Coronavirus- COVID-19…So now good ol’ Coronavirus emerged last December and here is what we know so far but rest assured there are medical scientists and researchers all across this globe doing the best they can at getting us the most information about this disease in order to protect our health, and as they research and study new facts and information will come out about the disease process, about the negative effects, about how it is transmitted, about how to best prevent or slow the spread, information emerges everyday.

We know that COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets and is highly contagious, the reproductive rate number also referred to as R naught is higher than influenza ever dreamed of being. This number shows approximately how many people can become infected from one COVID-19 carrier.

We know some of the symptoms of COVID-19 I personally do not think we have even scratched the surface of this virus and in years to come there will be so many developments that we will all say man I wish we knew that in 2020 🙂

Symptoms we know of :

  • Initial reports of signs and symptoms when the virus first emerged was as follows
    • high fever
    • shortness of breath
    • difficulty breathing
    • fatigue
    • weakness
    • body aches
    • cough
    • congestion
  • Symptoms showing up after virus has been around few months and continues spreading infecting people are as follows
    • nausea and vomiting
    • diarrhea(which also made us realize COVID-19 is found in fecal matter)
    • loss of appetite
    • loss of taste and smell
    • sore throat
    • headache
    • confusion
    • rash
    • COVID toes- a very weird sign that began emerging
    • MIS-C- multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children- at the beginning of this pandemic it was thought that only elderly were at risk, that covid-19 only infected the elderly population and showed negative effects of morbidity and mortality with that group of individuals…. Research has discovered that COVID-19 is no respecter of age and in children presents completely different and shows up with this horrific Multisystem inflammatory syndrome.
    • and more are being discovered this list will continue to grow

The effects of COVID-19 are being studied now but still this virus is so new that we are not able to fully comprehend the long-term effects of this virus, will it live in our body forever and re-emerge down the road? WE just dont know yet. Some of the effects that have been noted in studies are as follows, seizure activity(this tells me this virus also affects the CNS negatively), liver damage, kidney damage, lung damage that is permanent lung damage, blood clots… and more are going to emerge through medical research with time.

Pneumonia is a condition in which the air sacs in the lungs the site of gas exchange in the lungs are inflamed and can fill with fluid causing difficulty breathing and chest pain. People contract pneumonia every year this can be caused by a virus or bacteria. COVID-19 virus has these hooks on the outside of the virus itself(see photos for more information) that it uses to latch onto the lung wall and continue to multiply and infect the host. This can cause inflammation inside the lungs (pneumonitis) which can then lead to the air sacs filling with fluid and causes pneumonia. Pneumonia doesnt just happen the person has to be infected with a virus or a bacteria and even fungi can infect the lungs causing pneumonia… pneumonia itself is not the illness rather the outcome of the illness.

Pneumonia is a common side effect of COVID-19 the direct result of lung damage the virus is causing on the inner walls and the alveoli(air sac site of gas exchange).

Does this damage last long-term does having COVID-19 make a person more susceptible to pneumonia or other respiratory illnesses later on, these are questions we just don’t have enough knowledge of this virus yet we are still learning.

Why are individuals who have pre-existing conditions classified as a higher risk? These individuals have conditions which can affect the way their immune system responds to pathogens and infections. These individuals are at a higher risk of contracting any infection not just COVID-19

I understand that when Medical Researchers and scientists come forward with new information that can seem conflicting to what was previously shared it can become very confusing it can make you feel like you don’t know what to believe, I understand the frustration.

I can only encourage you to make sure that the articles you are reading, the research you are taking advice from are from the most current date because information that was released in January may not still be relevant today in July. This COVID-19 situation is fluid and constantly changing and developing, keep that in mind.

Stay safe my friends…Stay well…Stay informed!!!

Product review- Hidden Valley Secret Sauce

As soon as I saw this advertised on TV I knew i had to try it.

I love sauces, dips, condiments whatever you want to call it, I love it

I dip everything from French fries, chicken tenders, sandwiches, wraps, burritos

This product is a must have

I could eat this on hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, fish, French fries, tacos, salads too!!!

The immediate taste you get is a sweet flavor and bam it hits you on the back end with a spicy kick

It is spicy but what I tried it with the spice level actually varied some were spicier while others were sweeter.

  • French fries dipped in, very spicy
  • Fish fillets beer battered and deep fried was spicy but more sweet came out
  • On a cheeseburger it was spicy and sweet very refreshing on a summer day

So if you like dips and sauces like I do you will want to try this sauce out for sure

I am pretty sure they have at least 2 flavor combos but I like spicy so I tried thr hot version

Try it and you can grab a bottle here

My mission

When you join a direct sales company that company will have a mission statement(usually it is pretty easy to figure out what it is, it is a direct connection to their brand).

Many direct sellers don’t believe a personal brand is important, after all they have their companies mission and brand, right?

I on the other hand feel that a personal brand and personal mission is very important and when I discovered my personal brand and mission a fire started inside of me, I started looking at my business completely different.

I have something women need, they may not realize it but they need what I have, I am here to share with everyone who doesn’t already have a stylist.

I have been an independent stylist and was the youngest leader of Ruby Ribbon, I unfortunately let my disappointment get in my way and I lost my way in the business, I started thinking maybe it wasn’t worth it.

In April 2020 I joined Park Lane Jewelry, I had convinced myself that thhis…that sharing jewelry would come easier to me and what I found out was it was almost harder….why is that, what is happening?

Randomly a long time RR customer reached out and asked to host a virtual trunk show.

Well not exactly randomly when I realized this is exactly what I had been praying for. I had since April been praying for a customer, for a trunk show, for some additional income.

All praise be to God for answering my prayers!!!

I started thinking about my brand and my mission and how can I achieve this.

My Mission: To help women rediscover their inner confidence while sparkling on the outside

Ruby Ribbon offers the confidence part, with the BEST Bra replacements and shapewear while Park Lane offers an affordable way to sparkle everyday
