Cheesy Tortellini pizza

Oh how I love pasta and oh how I love pizza

so why not combine them into one dish!!!!

Okay so at a recent trip to Chicago we had deep dish pizza with zucchini (don’t knock it till you try it, it was the BEST pizza I have ever had)

Here is what you will need


  • Frozen cheese tortellini
  • Your favorite pizza sauce(I used my homemade secret sauce(not a secret for ⅕long I hope))
  • 2 zucchini thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Pepperoni
  • Sausage– I used left over turkey sausage from my pizza breads I made a few nights ago
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella shredded


  • Bring 4 qts water to boil
  • Add tortellini and cook 3 minutes
  • Heat skillet with olive oil, garlic
  • Add onion and zucchini
  • Add spices
  • Stir and cook until tender
  • Add cooked sausage and pepperoni stir and cook for 1 minute
  • Place lid on skillet and turn to low heat and let simmer for 5 minutes
  • Heat sauce
  • Drain pasta
  • Grab serving bowls and begin building your dish
    • 1/2 cup tortellini
    • 1 dollop of ricotta cheese in middle
    • 2-3 tablespoons of pizza sauce on top of pasta and ricotta
    • 2 spoonful’s of zucchini mixture on top
    • sprinkle 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese on top
    • let sit in bowl for 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted
  • Serve immediately with garlic bread or salad
